Mechanisms Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Mechanical, Thermal and Propulsion (MTP) team and will help develop cutting‑edge mechanisms for ClearSpace's future space missions. You will work on mechanism subsystems that enable a variety of in‑orbit services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanism subsystems for a wide variety of in‑orbit services such as capture, docking, inspection, refuelling, repair, life‑extension and assembly.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team to specify, design, prototype, validate and test new robotic products.
• Manage mechanical and thermal interfaces and produce detailed mechanical drawings.
• Perform calculations and analyses to justify designs and prepare functional performance and environmental tests.
• Document design and test activities and support the development of robotics simulation and testing facilities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of mechanisms engineering experience in the space industry.
• Full lifecycle experience from system definition through design, build, test and on‑orbit operations.
• Proven track record in development and qualification of space mechanisms following ECSS standards.
• Experience managing subcontractors and interfacing with customers such as ESA and LSA.
• BSc or MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related engineering.
