Engineering Technician – Digital Twin Creation

About the role

R3 Robotics is seeking an Engineering Technician specialized in digital twin creation to support its AI‑powered dismantling platform for end‑of‑life electric vehicle components. You will work hands‑on in a laboratory setting, disassembling complex products such as EV batteries and e‑drives, and turning the physical insights into detailed digital assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform systematic disassembly of EV batteries, e‑drive systems and related components following safety procedures.
• Collect and record precise measurements, component conditions, and build characteristics during teardown.
• Document findings with images and organized data to support reverse‑engineering activities.
• Assist in building and assembling prototype tooling, fixtures, and disassembly equipment.
• Assemble mechanical sub‑assemblies from engineering drawings, CAD models and work instructions.
• Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to test, debug and iteratively improve prototype systems.
• Identify practical improvements in disassembly processes, tooling and data‑capture methods.
• Manufacture and modify simple jigs, fixtures and components using workshop equipment, including CNC machines.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical mindset with experience in mechanical and electrical system assembly.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented lab environment.
