Embedded Software Engineer – Low-Level & RTOS Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain low‑level firmware for space‑flight payloads and supporting ground systems. The role involves close collaboration with electronics, systems and science teams to ensure reliable end‑to‑end operation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain low‑level embedded software for payloads and ground systems.
• Develop, integrate and debug device drivers and board support packages for custom hardware.
• Work with real‑time operating systems to deliver deterministic control and data handling.
• Implement and validate communication stacks using UART, SPI, PCI, USB and CAN.
• Contribute to the design and optimisation of network stacks across all layers.
• Participate in code reviews, requirement discussions and documentation for flight and ground software.
• Optionally support project planning, milestone tracking and cross‑functional coordination.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of proven experience in low‑level software and embedded systems development.
• Strong knowledge of embedded hardware, drivers and signal processing.
• Hands‑on experience with RTOS and communication protocols (UART, SPI, PCI, USB, CAN).
• Understanding of network stack development from transport to application layers.
