Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

EmTroniX is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its NewSpace product team in Hautcharage, Luxembourg. You will work on the development, verification, and maintenance of embedded software for space‑grade payloads, collaborating with a multidisciplinary group of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the full product lifecycle: design, implementation, verification, qualification and maintenance.
• Define software requirements and test strategies for new space applications.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, interface control documents and user manuals.
• Integrate laboratory equipment (spectrum analyser, signal generator, power meter) into testing procedures.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, RF, and systems teams to ensure seamless integration.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in software engineering or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in embedded software development (automotive or medical experience is a plus).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a user‑focused mindset.
• Excellent communication skills in English; French or German are advantageous.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficient in C for embedded systems.
• Experience with real‑time microcontrollers and System‑on‑Chip platforms.
• Knowledge of APIs, SDKs and version‑control systems.
• Design of modular, reusable software architectures.
• Implementation of unit tests and high‑performance, space‑grade code.
• Background in RF, digital and analog electronics.
• Familiarity with interface protocols: UART, CAN, RS422/485, Ethernet, xSPI, SpaceWire (SpW), I²C.
