Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a fast‑growing team developing spacecraft payloads for orbital life‑sciences research. The role focuses on creating reliable, low‑level software that must operate flawlessly on every flight.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software for flight payloads and ground systems.
• Develop, integrate, and debug device drivers and board support packages for custom hardware.
• Work with real‑time operating systems to ensure deterministic control and data handling.
• Implement and validate communication stacks using UART, SPI, PCI, USB, and CAN.
• Contribute to network‑stack design from physical/link layers to application protocols.
• Collaborate with electronics, systems, and science teams to define interfaces and guarantee end‑to‑end reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, requirements discussions, and produce documentation for both flight and ground software.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience developing low‑level embedded software in C++.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, low‑level drivers, and signal processing.
• Hands‑on experience with real‑time operating systems and communication protocols (UART, SPI, PCI, USB, CAN).
• Solid knowledge of network stacks across all layers.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment and coordinate cross‑functional workstreams.
