Data Scientist – Global Network Planning & Supply Chain Optimization

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Data Scientist to design and implement scientific solutions that optimise our worldwide fulfillment network. You will work across multiple regions (EU, JP, IN and more) to improve customer experience while reducing cost and carbon footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mathematical and statistical models for inventory placement, product flow and supply‑chain planning under uncertainty.
• Collaborate with technical, business and operational teams to translate optimisation insights into actionable tools.
• Manage several high‑impact projects simultaneously and influence strategy with data‑driven recommendations.
• Leverage large language models to enhance explainability of optimisation solutions for planners worldwide.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with experience as a Data Scientist.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions.
• Detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data scripting languages such as SQL, Python, R.
• Experience with statistical/mathematical software (SAS, Matlab).
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools like Tableau or Amazon QuickSight.
• Knowledge of optimisation modelling and large language models (LLMs).
