Data Science Manager – ASIN Classification

About the role

We are looking for a Data Science Manager to lead the ASIN Classification team within WAVE (World Wide AI Enablement). In this high‑impact position you will guide a multidisciplinary group of applied scientists, data scientists, and engineers to design, deploy, and operationalize large‑scale machine‑learning solutions that power compliance programs across millions of products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
• Define the science roadmap, prioritize classification initiatives, and own end‑to‑end delivery from problem framing to production monitoring.
• Make architecture decisions on model selection, feature engineering, and evaluation metrics.
• Translate ambiguous compliance challenges into well‑scoped data‑science workstreams.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to align science investments with business goals.
• Build scalable data environments and ML pipelines for training, testing, and inference at massive scale.
• Establish and monitor classification metrics, KPIs, and health dashboards.
• Communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning or a related quantitative field; PhD is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with at least 3 years in a people‑management role.
• Proven track record of delivering ML solutions at scale in production environments.
• Strong understanding of machine‑learning fundamentals, LLMs, transformer architectures, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with multi‑modal learning (text, image, structured data).
