Applied Scientist, Procurement

About the role

Amazon's Global Procurement Organization is building the technology that drives billions of dollars in purchasing decisions. As an Applied Scientist, you will create and advance AI solutions that improve forecasting, information retrieval, and large‑language‑model applications for procurement across Amazon’s worldwide operations.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop novel AI technologies tailored to procurement challenges.
• Apply or invent machine‑learning and analytical techniques for forecasting, retrieval, and LLM‑based solutions.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product partners both locally and internationally.
• Experiment with, prototype, and launch new features, products, and systems that enhance supply‑chain efficiency.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proven experience building machine‑learning models for business applications.
• Publications or patents in top‑tier conferences or journals.
• Strong background in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed computing, and high‑performance computing.
