Senior Software QA Engineer – Test Automation

About the role

Thales Alenia Space is seeking an experienced Senior Software QA Engineer to lead test automation across digital applications, APIs, distributed systems, cloud‑native platforms and edge environments. You will define and implement automation strategies that improve verification efficiency, software quality and confidence throughout the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define test automation strategies based on product risks, verification objectives and technical constraints.
• Design, develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks for applications, services, APIs and platforms.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and representative test environments.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to improve system testability and support root‑cause analysis of failures.
• Assess automation effectiveness and continuously improve coverage, reliability and execution efficiency.
• Work with the Cybersecurity Authority to embed automated security verification.
• Provide technical leadership during projects, bids and customer discussions, and maintain verification documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of software testing experience, including at least 4 years in test automation.
• Strong understanding of risk‑based testing, verification and validation principles.
• Proven ability to design and maintain reusable automation frameworks for complex systems.
• Experience with CI/CD integration, containerised or cloud‑native environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills across application, platform and test layers.
• ISTQB or equivalent software‑testing qualification.

Required skills

• Python (primary language for test development).
• JavaScript or TypeScript, Go or Rust (optional).
• APIs, messaging, event‑driven architectures and distributed system concepts.
• CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Automation framework design and maintenance.
