Risk, Health & Safety Manager (Fire Prevention)

About the role

Kronospan, a global manufacturer of wood-based panels for furniture, interior design and construction, is looking for a Risk, Health & Safety Manager (M/F/X) for its Luxembourg facility, which sources and processes wood and recycled materials. The role covers Health & Safety Management and Fire Protection, ensuring full compliance with legislation, codes of practice and industry guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain ISO 45001 standards and certification, and act as the technical authority for managers on plant design, safe systems of work, PPE and accident prevention programmes
• Investigate workplace incidents, find root causes and implement corrective actions
• Monitor health and safety policies, escalate improvements to senior management and liaise with external organisations on specialist risks
• Keep up to date with local fire legislation, maintain firefighting equipment and the fire alarm system, and organise weekly, monthly and ad hoc inspections
• Carry out and report on VdS fire insurance audits, obtain and implement VdS standards for fire equipment testing and maintenance, and conduct fire investigations
• Review the site Risk Assessment annually and deliver monthly reports to Group Risk Management
• Liaise with contractors during shutdowns and maintenance, plan internal and external audits, and promote a fire prevention culture

Required profile

• Senior profile with a minimum of 5 years of experience as an H&S manager
• Previous experience in an industrial company
• Willingness to work independently and with a team, excellent communication and organisation
• Fluent English and German (mandatory)
• Ability to work under pressure

Required skills

• Strong experience with fire alarm systems, spark detection suppression, sprinkler systems and gas suppression systems
• ISO 45001 and VdS fire audit knowledge
