Head of Payments

About the role

This senior leadership position is based in Luxembourg and will shape the global payments function for a fast‑scaling international company. You will own the end‑to‑end payments ecosystem, driving efficiency, reliability and growth while enhancing the customer experience across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a global payments strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
• Own and optimise the full payments stack, including PSPs, cards, wallets, bank transfers and alternative methods.
• Improve payment UX/UI to increase conversion and reduce friction.
• Optimise routing logic, provider allocation and transaction flows for higher approval rates and lower costs.
• Monitor performance across markets, issuers and providers, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
• Manage PSP relationships, negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Lead localisation initiatives, integrating market‑specific acquiring and payment methods.
• Build robust reporting frameworks for performance, cost efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with payment regulations, security standards and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations and Support teams.
• Establish scalable processes, documentation and operational controls.
• Lead, mentor and develop the payments team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in payments, fintech or financial services in a global or multi‑market environment.
• Proven track record of improving approval rates, conversion and cost efficiency.
• Strong analytical capability with data‑driven decision making.
• Experience negotiating and managing relationships with PSPs, banks and payment partners.
• Solid understanding of payment compliance, security standards and regulatory frameworks.
