Head of Non-Financial Risk Control – Europe

About the role

The Head of Non-Financial Risk Control (NFRC) Europe leads the oversight of non‑financial risks across all European entities of Julius Baer, ensuring alignment with Group frameworks and European regulatory expectations such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). The role also serves as Head NFRC for Luxembourg.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full managerial responsibility for NFRC staff in Luxembourg and coordinate NFRC activities across European branches.
• Implement global frameworks (Internal Control, Operational Risk, Third‑Party Risk Management, Technology Risk, Resilience) at the European level.
• Act as trusted adviser to local risk owners and senior stakeholders, ensuring consistent risk identification, assessment, monitoring and management.
• Guarantee compliance with Group policies and European regulatory expectations, including DORA requirements for ICT risk, incident management, testing, reporting and third‑party oversight.
• Escalate exposures outside risk appetite and oversee remediation plans.
• Coordinate with Group Internal Audit and ensure timely remediation of audit findings.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in non‑financial risk control or operational risk within the financial services sector.
• Deep knowledge of European regulatory frameworks, especially DORA.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑border teams and collaborate with CROs, compliance, legal, IT and business continuity functions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and a track record of driving harmonised risk operating models.
