Head of Investment Counselling

About the role

HSBC Private Bank Luxembourg is seeking a Head of Investment Counselling to lead the delivery of investment solutions for private banking clients. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Investment Counselling and the local Front Office Supervisory Head, you will shape strategies, guide relationship managers, and ensure compliance with group objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client needs and develop holistic investment strategies, overseeing implementation and ongoing suitability.
• Utilise an open‑architecture product approach to provide best‑in‑class solutions.
• Support business growth by contributing to new initiatives, product enhancements, and client propositions.
• Prepare comprehensive asset‑allocation proposals and educate clients, prospects, and relationship managers.
• Monitor portfolios for performance, asset allocation, and appropriateness.
• Lead and develop a team of Investment Counsellors and Analysts, fostering high performance and collaboration.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics or a related field.
• Extensive experience in investment management and private wealth.
• Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, and a wide range of traditional and alternative investment products.
• Proven expertise in capital‑markets theory, the investment process, and product selection.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German or French is a plus.
• Trading experience in executing client orders.
• CFA qualification or equivalent is advantageous.
