Head of Financial Accounting – Luxembourg

About the role

The Head of Financial Accounting will lead accounting and financial reporting across multiple European entities for a fast‑scaling fintech. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the role combines operational ownership, regulatory compliance, audit coordination and process transformation in a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee full accounting operations for several international entities, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Manage monthly and annual closing cycles and deliver high‑quality financial reports on time.
• Prepare consolidated and statutory financial statements for multiple European jurisdictions.
• Handle complex payment flows, wallet operations and multi‑party transactions specific to fintech.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting obligations and prudential requirements.
• Serve as primary liaison for external auditors, regulators and finance partners.
• Strengthen internal controls to support growth and scalability.
• Drive finance system (SAP) optimization, automation and data integrity.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations and Product teams to ensure accurate accounting representation.
• Lead, mentor and develop an international finance team.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to simplify and standardise processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, OEC or equivalent) completed or in progress.
• Minimum 8 years of accounting, reporting or controlling experience in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of LUX GAAP; IFRS knowledge is highly valued.
• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end closing and reporting cycles.
• Experience interacting with auditors, regulators and external advisors.
