Global Head of Internal Audit

About the role

The Global Head of Internal Audit leads the independent assurance function for Candriam across Europe, the UK and the Middle East. Reporting directly to the CEO and functionally to the NYL Group Audit Function, the role is based in Luxembourg and involves regular travel (approximately 15‑20%). The leader will shape audit strategy, integrate advanced analytics and AI, and support sustainable growth and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Define, maintain and execute a risk‑based internal audit plan aligned with regulatory expectations and NYL requirements.
• Present audit plans, reports and key findings to the Group Steering Committee and Board.
• Provide independent assurance on governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Monitor emerging risks (regulatory, operational, technological) and adjust audit priorities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulators such as CSSF, FCA and ESMA.
• Oversee delivery of audit assignments across all entities and functions, ensuring high‑quality reports with actionable recommendations.
• Supervise follow‑up of audit recommendations and remediation plans.
• Lead and develop a team of internal auditors in Luxembourg, building capabilities in data analytics and AI tools.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and IT Security functions and act as a trusted advisor to business heads.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit, risk management and regulatory compliance within the financial services sector.
• Proven ability to lead and develop audit teams at a global level.
• Direct reporting experience to senior executives (e.g., CEO) and functional reporting to a group audit function.
• Willingness to travel regularly (15‑20%) across key locations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence board‑level discussions.
