Gender and Social Development Expert (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Gender and Social Development Expert to join its Projects Directorate, Innovation & Competitiveness Department in Luxembourg. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (grade 5) lasts for two years and requires regular presence at the headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and strengthen the Bank’s approach to social risk management, promoting gender equality and social inclusion throughout the project cycle.
• Provide hands‑on support and capacity‑building to project teams on social due diligence, with a focus on indigenous peoples and other vulnerable groups.
• Develop and share policy guidance, practical tools and best‑practice lessons across the department.
• Collaborate with internal experts across Projects, Global and Operations Directorates and represent the EIB on relevant external social topics.
• Co‑develop sector tools to measure direct and indirect social impacts of EIB investments.

Required profile

• Strong background in gender equality, social development or related fields, preferably with experience in international development or finance institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and build partnerships across departments.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience in advising on social risk assessment and mitigation.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of additional EU languages is an asset.
