Fund Finance Associate / VP

About the role

The EMEA Fund Finance team sits within ING's Financial Institutions sector and handles the origination and structuring of lending transactions for funds managed by European financial sponsors and asset managers, mainly unlisted funds in private equity, secondaries, private credit, real estate and infrastructure. The team is hiring an Associate/VP to support business growth, expand product offering into NAV financing and strengthen sponsor relationships. The role sits within the EMEA Sectors team, focused on relationship management, origination and structuring.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the origination and execution of fund finance transactions alongside the Deal Principal in the Luxembourg-based Fund Finance team.
• Structure and price fund finance transactions, working with the Transaction Management team on execution and documentation negotiation.
• Assess credit risk across fund structures, investor bases and underlying portfolios, and contribute to structuring and risk mitigation.
• Analyse fund structures, investor ecosystems and portfolio assets to identify financing opportunities and tailor solutions across the private markets value chain.
• Steer the business to deliver ING's Wholesale Bank strategy, increase lending volumes mobilised for ESG purposes and provide sector expertise.
• Maintain and develop senior-level sponsor relationships with Relationship Managers, delivering the whole bank to the client.
• Drive product innovation and thought leadership, originating structured lending from NAV to hybrid solutions.
• Stay informed on Fund Finance market developments and build relationships with sponsors, lenders, advisors and other market participants.

Required profile

• At least 3-5 years' experience in Fund Finance or a related private markets financing business.
• Experience reviewing, negotiating or working with financing documentation and market-standard loan agreements.
• Client-facing and relationship management experience in sponsor coverage.
• Teamwork and stakeholder management experience at a bank or other non-bank financial institution.
• Fluent English, written and spoken; French is an asset.
• Desirable: LMA documentation and syndicated lending familiarity, term sheet negotiation experience, NAV finance expertise, exposure to hedging, cash management or depositary services, arranger/agency experience, CFA/CAIA or similar qualification, and a distribution/syndication track record.
