FPGA Engineer – Satellite & Telecom Firmware

About the role

OQ Technology is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join its payload and radio development team in Luxembourg. You will design, implement, integrate and verify FPGA firmware for satellite and telecommunications applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement FPGA firmware in VHDL/Verilog for digital signal processing, high‑speed interfaces and control logic.
• Optimize resource utilisation, timing closure and power efficiency on Xilinx/AMD Zynq, UltraScale+, Kintex, Virtex and Artix families using Vivado/Vitis.
• Develop and verify DSP algorithms (filtering, modulation, FFT, etc.) and high‑speed communication interfaces such as AXI4, JESD204B, PCIe and Ethernet.
• Perform FPGA bring‑up, hardware debugging and validation with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Integrate firmware with embedded processors (ARM Cortex‑A53, Cortex‑R5, MicroBlaze) and support Linux/RTOS environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering.
• Minimum three years of hands‑on FPGA firmware development experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog and experience with Xilinx/AMD device families.
• Strong knowledge of FPGA architecture, timing closure, testbench development and hardware bring‑up.
• Fluent spoken and written English and legal right to work in Europe.

Required skills

• VHDL, Verilog/SystemVerilog, MATLAB, C++, Python.
• Xilinx Vivado, Vitis, ISE; Intel/Altera Quartus Prime.
• Experience with Xilinx Zynq, UltraScale+, Kintex, Virtex, Artix, RFSoC, Versal families.
• High‑speed interfaces: AXI4, AXI‑Stream, JESD204B, PCIe, Ethernet, DDR4, SPI, I²C, UART, SpaceWire.
• Simulation tools: ModelSim, QuestaSim, UVVM.
• Laboratory equipment: oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, network analyser, logic analyser.
• Version control (Git) and Linux development environment.
