Engineer, Satellite Manufacturing - Automation

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer – Automation will design, develop and implement automated and semi‑automated solutions for satellite manufacturing. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and feasibility studies to deployment, validation and continuous improvement, collaborating closely with production, design, quality, IT and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate robotics, PLC‑based systems, vision systems, test automation and material handling solutions.
• Identify automation opportunities to boost productivity, quality, ergonomics, safety and cost efficiency.
• Lead feasibility studies, business cases and ROI analyses for automation projects.
• Develop system architectures, functional specifications and operating procedures.
• Support commissioning, validation and ramp‑up of automated production lines.
• Troubleshoot control system issues to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate external suppliers and system integrators.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, machine directives and quality standards.
• Drive standardisation, digitalisation and continuous improvement of automation platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering field.
• 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing automation or controls engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
• Experience programming and integrating industrial robots (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC, UR).
• Familiarity with safety standards, risk assessments and machine directives.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous‑improvement methodologies.
