Mechatronics Test Engineer

About the role

As a member of the Test & Validation team, the Mechatronics Test Engineer designs, develops and integrates Mechanical and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE/EGSE) and data‑acquisition systems that enable ClearSpace hardware to be tested safely and repeatably.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop MGSE and EGSE required for functional and environmental test campaigns based on specifications from robotics/mechanism engineers.
• Develop data‑acquisition, control and data‑processing software (e.g., Beckhoff/TwinCAT, Python).
• Manufacture, assemble, wire and integrate GSE/EGSE and commission them on test benches.
• Set up instrumentation, configure sensors, signal‑conditioning and acquisition hardware.
• Verify, debug and validate GSE/EGSE interfaces to the unit under test and bench instrumentation.
• Produce and maintain documentation: requirements, schematics, wiring/harness drawings, interface definitions, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Support test campaigns by operating, maintaining and troubleshooting GSE/EGSE on site.
• Collaborate with robotics, mechanism and Test & Validation teams to ensure functional and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (MSc level, 5‑year programme) in microengineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience designing and integrating electronics or mechatronic test equipment.
• Proven ability in electronic design, harnessing/wiring and control or acquisition software development.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and hands‑on skills with a safety‑conscious approach.
