Data Scientist – Global Network Planning & Supply Chain Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to develop scientific solutions that optimise Amazon’s worldwide fulfillment strategy. You will work across multiple regions (EU, JP, IN and others) to enhance customer experience while reducing cost and carbon footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mathematical models for inventory placement and product flow optimisation.
• Build statistical and optimisation models for supply‑chain planning under uncertainty.
• Manage several high‑impact projects simultaneously.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Communicate data‑driven insights and recommendations to senior leaders through technical and business documents.
• Leverage large language models to improve explainability of optimisation solutions.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and scientific background.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across functions.
• Detail‑oriented and comfortable working with both technical and business teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data scripting languages such as SQL and Python.
• Experience with statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab) and machine‑learning techniques.
• Knowledge of optimisation and statistical modelling.
• Familiarity with additional scripting languages like Perl is a plus.
