AI Innovation Engineer

About the role

The AI Innovation Engineer will join a university environment to design, build, and maintain core AI tools that support business users. This freelance position focuses on operational reliability, secure deployment, and enabling low‑code AI solutions across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI tools, ensuring high uptime and rapid incident response.
• Build, configure, and sustain Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and integrate new data sources, delivering dashboards and business insights.
• Design and manage no‑code solutions for RAG bot deployment, making AI accessible to non‑technical users.
• Oversee release management, guaranteeing traceability, reversibility, and compliance with separation‑of‑duties policies.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to configure, enable, and troubleshoot user‑facing product journeys, and measure adoption.
• Support AI security by staying current on threats, identifying risks with the architect, and enhancing platform security.
• Promote accessibility, privacy, and compliance standards for all AI and automation products.
• Track operational incidents, conduct post‑incident reviews, and analyze performance metrics for continuous improvement.
• Provide flexible support for pilot projects, rapid prototyping, and occasional business‑analysis tasks.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience deploying user‑facing solutions in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Strong background in AI product development and data orchestration.
• Solid understanding of AI security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Ability to measure adoption, gather feedback, and drive product improvements.
• Fluent in English and French; German or Luxembourgish is a plus.
