Underwriting Governance – International Markets

About the role

Sompo is seeking an Underwriting Governance professional to join its International Markets division. Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, you will help shape and enforce underwriting standards across multiple European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Support the IM CUO Office and Head of Strategy in delivering underwriting governance objectives.
• Maintain and enhance the Underwriting Governance Framework to ensure consistent application across all markets.
• Facilitate Management‑Initiated Audits, track findings and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate underwriting authority protocols, including referral, escalation, and issuance of Letters of Authority.
• Oversee delegated authority structures and monitor compliance with local resources.
• Collaborate with strategic partners, regional CUOs, and product communities to align governance with business goals.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of insurance underwriting processes and governance.
• Experience working in an international or multi‑market environment.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across matrix reporting lines.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
