Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

CloudHQ is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, planning, and delivery of advanced mechanical systems for hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. The role combines deep technical expertise with project‑management responsibility to ensure reliable, energy‑efficient infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise HVAC, chilled‑water, air‑handling, cooling‑tower and fire‑suppression systems for tier‑1 data centre environments.
• Review engineering calculations, CFD models and thermodynamic analyses to maximise performance and minimise operating costs.
• Lead mechanical scopes through concept, design review, tendering and construction phases, acting as the primary liaison with contractors and consultants.
• Ensure compliance with European building codes, ASHRAE standards (e.g., TC9.9) and sustainability targets.
• Develop redundant system architectures to support continuous operation during peak loads and maintenance windows.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in mechanical engineering for large‑scale data centre or industrial facilities.
• Eligibility to work in the UK, France, Germany, Italy or Luxembourg and willingness to travel regularly across EMEA sites.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex projects from inception to handover.
