Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

You will lead and perform audit activities across the organisation, assessing risks, controls and governance to ensure effectiveness and regulatory compliance. Working within a collaborative internal audit team, you will interact with multiple departments and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed audit plans based on risk assessments and execute audits on financial, operational and compliance processes.
• Evaluate internal controls, risk‑management and governance practices, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
• Identify and assess organisational risk areas, propose audit strategies and support implementation of process enhancements.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports, present results to senior management and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure audits comply with internal methodology, best practices and external regulatory requirements, monitoring legislative changes.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in internal audit, external audit or risk management within banking or financial services, preferably in the European/Luxembourg market.
• Proven experience leading or coordinating audit projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of internal control frameworks such as COSO.
• Familiarity with audit standards.
• Proficiency with audit software and data‑analytics tools (e.g., Knime, IDEA).
