R&D Engineer

About the role

INCERT, a Luxembourg public agency specialized in cryptography, PKI, eTravel, biometrics and AI, is looking for a permanent R&D Engineer. The role is part of the Standards and Regulations team and focuses on designing and implementing prototypes, proof‑of‑concepts and pre‑production solutions that can become new products or enhance existing offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse international standards and specifications and translate them into functional prototypes.
• Design, develop and test back‑end components and, when required, integrate them into mobile applications.
• Identify, plan and implement new features based on project requests.
• Suggest and implement new tools, applications and protocols.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation for each prototype.
• Collaborate closely with internal solution teams to mature prototypes into operational solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in back‑end development and prototype/PoC creation.
• Ability to read, understand and apply international standards and research outputs.
• Interest in cybersecurity, cryptography and emerging technologies.
