Principal, Real Estate In-House Board Director, Luxembourg

About the role

Ares' European Real Estate team is looking for a Principal/Director to join its Portfolio Management Group, which oversees the management of European properties. The role also sits on the board of the Luxembourg entities that own these assets directly and indirectly. The candidate must be able to make informed decisions on real estate and ask critical questions about transactions brought to the board for approval.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee asset management of a portfolio of European assets, executing leasing, capex and operating strategies
• Ensure delivery of business plans and accurate quarterly reporting
• Drive value creation initiatives including refinancing, disposals and acquisitions
• Review governing documents and contribute to board-level decision-making
• Collaborate with internal departments and external service providers to execute decisions efficiently
• Serve as board member of Luxembourg SPVs, ensuring compliance with legal, tax, regulatory and governance requirements

Required profile

• 15+ years of real estate experience in commercial/financial, legal or equivalent fields
• Experience in decision-making and real estate asset management
• Understanding of alternative investment structures and portfolio management
• Experience with Lux SPVs and corporate governance (board experience preferred)
• Advanced degree in finance or law, or equivalent work experience
• Luxembourg residency required
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are advantageous
