Junior Business Intelligence Engineer

About the role

The Junior Business Intelligence Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high‑quality data models, datasets, and visual reports that enable data‑driven decision making across the organization. Working closely with business analysts and data engineers, the role transforms raw data into reliable, actionable insights using Power BI and modern data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Gold‑layer datasets, semantic models, KPIs, and visual dashboards.
• Create and optimise data models for various business functions.
• Conduct code reviews of Bronze and Silver layer pipelines to ensure quality and performance.
• Maintain technical documentation for datasets, models, and reports.
• Validate data accuracy across layers and support data‑governance standards.
• Troubleshoot and enhance existing reports to improve accuracy and user experience.
• Manage change requests, promote best practices, and provide user support.
• Monitor BI trends, propose optimisations, and support automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence.
• At least 2 years of experience in BI engineering, development, or data modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with modern data architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
• Autonomous, comfortable working in a dynamic team environment.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Power BI, including dataset modelling and DAX.
• Advanced SQL skills for data entity design, exploration, testing, and code reviews.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, dimensional modelling, and semantic layer design.
• Experience with ETL/ELT concepts and modern data platforms (Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture).
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of data quality, testing, and performance optimisation.
