Internship - Chemical Process Engineer for Green Ironmaking

About the role

Join Paul Wurth’s R&D team in Luxembourg as a Chemical Process Engineer intern, focusing on innovative green ironmaking technologies. You will support research and development of low‑CO2 processes that combine renewable energy sources with advanced reactor concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct academic literature research to model and understand physical mechanisms of green ironmaking.
• Perform plant engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances, heat transfer, and chemical kinetics.
• Assist in business development and economic analysis of technical solutions.
• Carry out market studies and technology surveys of existing equipment and ongoing developments.
• Support communication with external partners, suppliers, and conference participants.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in process engineering, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
• Availability for a minimum of 6 months.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• MS Excel
• Basic knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen, Aveva)
• Understanding of thermodynamics and energy balances
• Familiarity with P&ID and HAZOP concepts (optional)
