Health Sector Specialist – Luxembourg

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for a Health Sector Specialist to join its Life Sciences and Health Division in Luxembourg. You will work within multi‑disciplinary project teams to assess the technical and economic viability of health‑related investment projects across the EU and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate health sector projects, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices, for financial, technical and sustainability criteria.
• Provide independent advice to EIB decision‑makers on sector policy and project quality.
• Support promoters in project design, preparation, and implementation, ensuring compliance with procurement and environmental standards.
• Monitor ongoing projects to track performance against climate, social and economic objectives.
• Collaborate with experts from engineering, economics, climate, social and procurement fields.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in health economics, engineering, life sciences or a related field.
• Experience working on health‑related investment or policy projects, preferably in an international setting.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work within multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of additional EU languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Understanding of health sector economics and financing mechanisms.
• Familiarity with procurement standards and sustainability assessment frameworks.
