Head of Virology and Serology – Permanent Full‑Time

About the role

The Laboratoire national de santé is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to lead its Virology and Serology Service within the Microbiology Department. This senior position oversees diagnostic activities, research collaborations, and national reference functions for viral infections.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the Virology and Serology Service, ensuring high‑quality diagnostic testing for acute respiratory infections, HIV, viral hepatitis, enteroviruses and polioviruses.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of scientists and technicians, fostering professional development and operational excellence.
• Coordinate national surveillance programs and contribute to European research projects on viral diagnostics.
• Maintain the laboratory’s status as a national reference centre, supporting public health authorities.
• Oversee the implementation of molecular and serological methods, including pathogen sequencing.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor with board certification or equivalent in microbiology, virology or clinical laboratory medicine.
• Proven leadership experience in a clinical or public‑health laboratory setting.
• Strong track record in diagnostic virology, serology and molecular testing.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clinicians, health authorities and research partners.
