Head of Finance – Luxembourg

About the role

This is a strategic opportunity to join a leading international insurance group in Luxembourg. The role offers direct exposure to senior management and supervisory authorities within an international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities for the Luxembourg head office and branches, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and group standards.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, delivering reporting packs on time.
• Ensure the accuracy of LUX GAAP financial statements and consolidation files, aligning with IFRS reporting standards.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations and internal control framework.
• Coordinate with auditors, regulators and tax advisors for statutory audits, regulatory filings and tax compliance.
• Support preparation and submission of regulatory reporting to supervisory authorities and follow‑up on audit findings.
• Collaborate with group finance to ensure consistency in reporting, consolidation and cross‑border compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and formalise internal procedures.
• Supervise and support members of the local finance team, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in finance, accounting, reporting or controlling.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, OEC or equivalent) is a plus.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to operate autonomously.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
