Head of Department of Management

About the role

The Head of the Department of Management will report to the Academic Director and provide strategic leadership for the department. The role is responsible for advancing the department’s educational, research and service missions in line with LUNEX’s overall strategy, while ensuring programme quality, innovation and international impact.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the department’s strategic vision, aligning it with LUNEX’s core values and objectives.
• Lead the design, development, delivery and continuous review of Bachelor and Master programmes to ensure relevance, excellence and graduate employability.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in management, leadership, sport business, health management and wellbeing.
• Oversee internal and external quality assurance, accreditation and reaccreditation processes for all programmes.
• Build and drive the department’s research agenda, particularly in sport management.
• Expand academic, professional and industry partnerships at national and international levels.
• Promote evidence‑based teaching, digitalisation, student‑centred learning and research productivity among staff.
• Set, monitor and act on KPIs related to student satisfaction, retention, performance, employability, research output and partnerships.
• Manage the departmental budget, resources and facilities in collaboration with central services.
• Champion a diverse, inclusive and international student experience throughout the department’s operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic leadership and academic management within a higher‑education setting.
• Demonstrated ability to design, deliver and continuously improve Bachelor and Master programmes.
• Experience overseeing accreditation and quality‑assurance processes.
• Track record of developing research agendas and securing external partnerships.
• Strong competence in budget and resource management.
• Commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion and internationalisation among staff and students.
