Head of Commercial & Sales for European Market

About the role

Paytm Europe is establishing its payments business in Luxembourg and will expand across Germany, the Netherlands and other European markets. The Head of Commercial & Sales will define and execute the commercial strategy, building a high‑performing sales organisation that drives merchant acquisition, partnerships and revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a Europe‑wide commercial strategy aligned with long‑term vision, identifying new markets, customer segments and revenue opportunities.
• Recruit, develop and lead a best‑in‑class field sales team, establishing the Paytm Sales Academy and a performance‑driven culture.
• Drive merchant acquisition, activation and retention, creating strategies to maximise lifetime value while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Develop strategic partnerships with banks, acquirers, ISVs, platforms and software vendors to expand distribution and embedded finance capabilities.
• Set clear KPIs, forecasting, pipeline management and performance reporting across Sales, Partnerships and Customer Success.
• Collaborate with Product, Technology, Operations, Risk and Compliance to deliver commercial goals within a robust governance framework.

Required profile

• 15+ years of senior commercial leadership experience in payments, fintech, banking or technology.
• Proven track record building and scaling field sales organisations and delivering sustained revenue growth.
• Experience launching products or services in multiple European jurisdictions and negotiating strategic commercial partnerships.
• Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder‑management skills, with an entrepreneurial and data‑driven mindset.
• Knowledge of merchant acquiring, Open Banking, payment acceptance and SME banking is highly desirable.
