Head of Clinical Genetics Service

About the role

The National Center of Genetics at the Laboratoire National de Santé is seeking an experienced Clinical Geneticist to lead its Clinical Genetics Service. This senior position combines clinical expertise with operational leadership to advance genomic medicine and precision oncology for the Luxembourg population.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall operational and financial oversight of the Clinical Genetics Service, ensuring efficiency and alignment with institutional goals.
• Supervise and support a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, psychologists, and genetic counselors.
• Instruct and mentor doctors in specialist genetics training.
• Deliver expert genetic consultations for rare diseases, hereditary cancers, and other inherited conditions.
• Ensure compliance with the laboratory’s quality management system and maintain high standards of clinical service delivery.
• Review and medically validate genetic laboratory test results.
• Contribute to the implementation of new diagnostic methods and cutting‑edge sequencing technologies.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in Clinical Genetics and a valid license to practice.
• Proven leadership experience in a clinical genetics or related laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of rare disease genetics, hereditary cancer genetics, and precision oncology.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
• Ability to manage budgets, resources, and multidisciplinary teams.
