Director of Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a fully remote, global engineering organization based in Luxembourg. The role combines strategic leadership with deep technical oversight to deliver reliable, scalable, and high‑performance systems that handle large volumes of global digital traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and scale a global remote engineering team, including engineering managers and software engineers.
• Define and optimize organizational design, career paths, and succession planning.
• Partner with product leadership to align engineering execution with product strategy and customer outcomes.
• Oversee architectural integrity, scalability, security, and performance of high‑volume distributed systems.
• Balance technical debt reduction with feature delivery for sustainable evolution.
• Establish and track engineering performance metrics (e.g., DORA, SPACE) to improve delivery efficiency.
• Drive adoption of AI‑powered engineering tools and automation across the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance, data privacy, and security practices across all engineering processes.

Required profile

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing engineering managers.
• Experience in SaaS, Ad Tech, or high‑scale distributed systems environments.
• Proven track record scaling and leading large, fully remote, globally distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructure design.
• Ability to make pragmatic technical trade‑offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability.
