Cytogeneticist – Full‑time Permanent Position

About the role

The National Center of Genetics at the Laboratoire national de santé is seeking a highly skilled Cytogeneticist to join its Hemato‑Oncogenetics‑Cytogenetics service. This full‑time permanent role involves leading a laboratory team, overseeing daily operations, and contributing to both diagnostic and translational research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists in cytogenetics.
• Direct daily operations of the cytogenetic laboratory, ensuring high‑quality results.
• Develop, validate, and implement new procedures and techniques.
• Interpret and communicate genetic results to physicians and other health professionals.
• Stay up‑to‑date with advances in cytogenetics and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in training of medical students, residents, and colleagues.
• Engage in translational research projects and collaborate with other genetics services and external partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in Cytogenetics, Genetics, Molecular Biology or a related field.
• Proven experience in a clinical cytogenetics laboratory, preferably with exposure to hematological and prenatal diagnostics.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting results and collaborating with clinicians.

Required skills

• Cytogenetics techniques (e.g., karyotyping, FISH).
