Unix/Linux DevOps Engineer with Java Expertise

About the role

Sopra Steria is seeking a seasoned Unix/Linux DevOps Engineer with strong Java expertise to manage and optimise enterprise Atlassian Jira and Confluence environments. You will work remotely across Europe with a hybrid presence in Luxembourg, contributing to high‑performance digital platforms for large organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimise RHEL‑based Linux servers.
• Support Java applications (Jira/Confluence) running on Tomcat.
• Perform JVM tuning, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting.
• Manage Apache HTTPD, SSL/TLS, reverse proxies and related integrations.
• Ensure security, reliability, and compliance of critical platforms.
• Collaborate with Atlassian administrators, DevOps, and security teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux (RHEL) administration.
• Strong expertise in Java, JVM tuning, and Tomcat.
• Solid knowledge of Apache, PostgreSQL, and scripting (Bash/Python).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and security best practices.
• Structured, proactive, and team‑oriented mindset.
• Fluent English communication skills.
