Technician

About the role

As a Technician at Goodyear, you will ensure the plant’s automation systems run safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your hands‑on work directly supports production by keeping equipment operating at peak performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission automation equipment such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, VFDs and safety devices.
• Program, adjust, and optimise PLC logic, HMI interfaces and control parameters to meet production needs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and software issues to minimise downtime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on control systems and automation equipment.
• Support upgrades, retrofits and modernisation projects in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, PLC backups, change logs and maintenance reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures and electrical regulations.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and plant optimisation activities.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial automation, controls or maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of PLC systems, HMIs, sensors and industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot across electrical, mechanical and software domains.
• Understanding of preventive‑maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
• Strong commitment to safety standards and procedures (e.g., LOTO, machine safety compliance).
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to support and train colleagues.
• Proactive, problem‑solving attitude with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
