Senior Scientist – Polymer Physical Chemistry & Process Development

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the development of polymer dissolution and solution preparation processes for a next‑generation materials platform. This hands‑on R&D position focuses on polymer physical chemistry, concentrated polymer solutions, rheology and process development, translating laboratory research into scalable manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead scientific development of polymer dissolution and solution preparation processes.
• Design and execute experimental programmes to optimise dissolution behaviour, rheology and solution stability.
• Develop robust characterisation methods and process‑control strategies.
• Investigate structure‑property relationships to improve process performance and product quality.
• Support scale‑up activities from laboratory through pilot manufacturing.
• Prepare technical reports and development plans to support project progression.
• Mentor junior scientists and collaborate closely with engineering and analytical teams.

Required profile

• Degree level qualified (ideally PhD) in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Practical expertise in polymer chemistry, polymer physical chemistry or solution processing.
• Hands‑on experience developing and optimising concentrated polymer solutions.
• Strong understanding of rheology, dissolution behaviour and process‑property relationships.
• Experience translating laboratory research into scalable manufacturing processes.
• Excellent experimental design, data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
