Senior R&T Scientist – Chemical Risk Management

About the role

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) seeks a senior Research & Technology scientist to strengthen its Environmental Policies group. You will provide scientific input for EU and national chemical safety policies and support the implementation of the EU chemicals legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an active member of the Committee for Socio‑economic Analysis (SEAC) at ECHA, contributing to technical and scientific assessments and drafting opinions on socio‑economic impacts of chemical legislation.
• Support the national REACH & CLP Helpdesk and liaise with the ECHA Risk Assessment Committee.
• Lead tasks and work packages in European research projects focused on chemical safety.
• Define, submit and manage European and national research proposals, acting as principal investigator when required.
• Collaborate with public and private partners to develop sustainability assessment and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches.

Required profile

• PhD degree in chemistry or a related chemical science.
• Extensive experience in chemical risk assessment and regulatory affairs (REACH, CLP, POPs).
• Proven track record in European research projects and proposal writing.
• Strong knowledge of EU chemicals legislation and participation in ECHA or OECD working groups.
