Senior Mechanical and Thermal Engineer

About the role

Darwin Space is seeking a Senior Mechanical & Thermal Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical and thermal components for space and ground systems in Luxembourg. The role combines hands‑on engineering with department leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse, procure, assemble and test mechanical parts and mechanisms for space and ground terminals and support equipment.
• Develop mechanical and thermal requirements aligned with system specifications.
• Manage the mechanical and thermal department, clarifying tasks, verifying inputs/outputs, and fostering best practices.
• Perform detailed mechanical and thermal finite‑element analyses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Support testing and validation activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system design definitions and interface control documents (ICDs).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical and thermal engineering.
• Proven experience with mechanical and thermal FEA.
• Experience writing high‑quality technical documentation.
• Citizenship of an EU and NATO member state.
