Research Data Specialist

About the role

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Luxembourg is looking for a Research Data Specialist to support researchers throughout the data lifecycle. You will help implement FAIR‑compliant data management strategies and work closely with data, library and IT teams in a multilingual, interdisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement guidelines for data lifecycle management, documentation and information security.
• Assist with data submissions such as sequencing, clinical assays and surveys, handling access requests and ensuring proper metadata.
• Facilitate data preservation, archiving and sharing across projects.
• Contribute to discipline‑specific services, tools and training materials on data management and reproducibility.
• Support project deliverables, scientific publications and community work in data stewardship.
• Collaborate with IT, Library and Research Support teams to coordinate data management services.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science or a related field.
• Experience in collaborative research, research data management and data quality control.
• Good understanding of research practices and how data and software underpin reproducible research.
• Familiarity with metadata standards and ontologies in life sciences, medicine or health is an asset.
• Experience with biomedical or health data (e‑health records, omics, imaging) is a plus.
• Fluency in English.
