Project Manager – Implementation

About the role

The Project Manager (Implementation) leads projects that support partner objectives, ensuring delivery within agreed tolerances for time, cost, scope, quality, risk and benefits. Reporting to the Project Board, the role coordinates with donors, partners and beneficiaries to align outcomes with contractual commitments and UNOPS performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and execute the project implementation plan, establishing milestones and monitoring progress.
• Embed sustainability, gender, social and environmental considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage production of outputs, resource allocation and corrective actions to keep the project on track.
• Ensure quality of work packages meets defined standards and oversee acceptance and delivery of deliverables.
• Monitor variances, control changes and report progress to the Project Board.
• Identify risks, propose mitigation measures and advise senior management.
• Promote UNOPS services, identify growth opportunities and ensure compliance with organisational policies, local laws and UNOPS financial rules.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and support audit requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planning, implementing and controlling projects from initiation to closure.
• Strong understanding of stakeholder management and contractual obligations.
• Ability to act on behalf of a Project Board and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Familiarity with UNOPS performance standards and international regulations.
