Principal Engineer – NVH Modeling & Tire FEA

About the role

The Physics Based Modeling division at Goodyear is seeking a highly motivated Principal Engineer to develop and verify models within a massively parallel code environment. This senior role will lead the NVH modeling strategy, maintain tire performance finite element tools, and contribute to both applied product and fundamental technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Drive, maintain and support the NVH modeling strategy.
• Support finite element code and methods development focused on solid mechanics and acoustics for tire performance prediction.
• Provide training, user support, and debugging assistance to other engineers using tire performance tools.
• Collaborate with team members to identify new tire technologies, develop and document standards, and implement them in performance manuals.
• Participate in design, development, and industrialization of tire engineering projects that lead to new products, processes, tools, and technologies.

Required profile

• MSc degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil or Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Strong theoretical knowledge in structural dynamics and acoustics.
• Graduate‑level knowledge of computational solid mechanics, multiscale methods, computational acoustics, nonlinear finite elements, material models (rubber, shells), contact mechanics, validation testing and model updating.
• Experience with numerical simulation tools such as Abaqus, Nastran or Ansys, especially for NVH simulations.
• Familiarity with basic development practices and tools: Git, IDEs and Agile methodologies.
