Lead Buyer CAPEX – Decarbonization Program

About the role

ArcelorMittal is launching a billion‑euro decarbonization program that includes some of the largest industrial transformation projects in Europe. We are seeking an experienced Lead Buyer to manage high‑value, complex CAPEX procurement packages across mega‑projects in heavy industry, mining, energy and related sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full CAPEX procurement lifecycle from strategy definition to contract execution, following ArcelorMittal Capital Investment Project Methodology.
• Develop and drive project and package purchasing strategies, ensuring alignment with the Investment Approval Committee.
• Define, monitor and mitigate procurement risks throughout the project.
• Manage supplier selection, RFx processes (e‑RFQ, e‑sourcing), onboarding and qualification.
• Lead tendering activities, including technical and commercial alignment, cost analysis, short‑listing, and negotiation to secure optimal contracts.
• Oversee contract drafting, negotiation, change order and claims management, and ensure compliance with procurement governance.
• Coordinate purchasing activities with local CAPEX teams and global stakeholders, leveraging synergies and bundling opportunities.
• Utilize DigiPACE and other CAPEX digital tools for sourcing and contract management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in large‑scale industrial procurement (oil & gas, energy, mining, heavy industry).
• Strong track record managing multi‑million to billion‑euro CAPEX projects.
• Ability to work with project directors, engineering teams, EPC/EPCM contractors and global suppliers.
• Excellent risk management and stakeholder coordination skills.
