Junior Risk & Data Analyst – AIFM

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Risk Analyst / Data Analyst to join the Risk Management team of an independent Luxembourg‑based AIFM. The role supports the analysis, monitoring and reporting of risks for alternative investment funds, combining regulatory risk management with data‑driven automation.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, clean, and analyse risk‑related data for AIFs using Excel, databases and risk tools.
• Assist in preparing and automating risk reports for the Board, senior management and regulators (e.g., AIFM reports, CSSF Annex IV, AIFMD reporting) using Excel, Power BI, VBA and related solutions.
• Maintain and update risk databases and dashboards, ensuring accurate risk metrics, limits and breach monitoring.
• Support monitoring of market, liquidity, credit, counterparty, operational and investment risks across managed AIFs.
• Contribute to development and improvement of risk assessment tools and databases (Excel, Power BI, VBA).
• Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Valuation, Compliance and IT teams to ensure consistent risk data.
• Assist due‑diligence processes by analysing data for new investments.
• Identify and implement process‑automation opportunities (VBA scripts, Power Query).
• Help maintain risk policies and procedures in line with AIFMD and CSSF requirements.
• Provide ad‑hoc analysis for regulatory queries or project assignments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships or working‑student roles), preferably within the fund industry (AIFM, ManCo or alternative investment funds).
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional teams.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, Power Query)
• Power BI for data visualisation and dashboarding
• VBA programming for automation
• Experience with databases and data‑cleaning tools
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements (AIFMD, CSSF)
