Head of Virology and Serology

About the role

The Laboratoire national de santé is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to lead its Virology and Serology service within the Microbiology department. This permanent, full-time position is responsible for overseeing all diagnostic activities related to viral infections and serological testing, ensuring high-quality results for national health services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Virology and Serology service, supervising staff and coordinating daily operations.
• Direct the detection, analysis and reporting of viral infections, including acute respiratory infections, HIV, viral hepatitis, enteroviruses and polioviruses.
• Implement and oversee molecular biology and serological methods for diagnostic testing.
• Collaborate with clinicians, national reference laboratories and research partners on surveillance and translational projects.
• Contribute to national and European diagnostic and surveillance initiatives, including pathogen sequencing and outbreak tracking.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor with extensive experience in clinical virology and serology.
• Proven leadership or managerial experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of national reference laboratory standards and public health diagnostics.
