Head of Real Estate Desk (M/F)

About the role

The Head of Real Estate Desk will lead BIL’s real‑estate financing team, driving commercial performance while ensuring disciplined risk management. Reporting to senior management, the role combines leadership, client development and strategic execution within a sustainable banking framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the Real Estate Desk team, fostering a culture of performance, risk discipline and execution excellence.
• Set clear commercial, qualitative and behavioural targets and provide regular feedback to the team and hierarchy.
• Deliver revenue and profitability targets for the real‑estate segment, promoting cross‑selling of core products (credit, deposits, cash‑management, insurance) with Wealth Management, CIB and other lines.
• Build and deepen relationships with key market players such as developers, professional investors, funds, family offices and institutional clients.
• Identify new growth opportunities, including new client segments, product structures and adjacent markets.
• Act as first line of defence by identifying, assessing and managing credit, operational, compliance and reputational risks; challenge and validate real‑estate credit files against risk policies.
• Monitor the portfolio proactively, overseeing market risk, valuations, cash‑flows and ESG factors.
• Contribute to BIL’s commercial and real‑estate strategy, support digitalisation initiatives and embed ESG considerations into financing offers.
• Represent BIL with external real‑estate market participants and collaborate across business lines.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a real‑estate financing environment, preferably within a bank or financial institution.
• Strong understanding of structured real‑estate financing, ESG integration and cross‑selling dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to manage credit risk, compliance and reputational risk on a daily basis.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with developers, investors, funds and institutional clients.
• Strategic mindset with the capacity to drive growth initiatives and support digital transformation.
