Head of Environment – Global Procurement Sustainability

About the role

Amazon’s Global Procurement Sustainability (GPS) team is looking for a Head of Environment to lead the Environment pillar. In this high‑visibility role you will translate Amazon’s climate commitments into measurable programs across the global supplier base.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive a portfolio of environmental programs across categories such as construction, packaging, equipment, MHE and services.
• Define program roadmaps, milestones and success metrics, balancing competing priorities with category teams.
• Lead supplier decarbonisation for 300+ top‑spend suppliers, embed carbon‑reduction clauses in contracts and manage product carbon‑footprint data for 2,000+ products.
• Develop carbon‑intensity baselines, quantification methodologies and track GHG emissions toward Net Zero goals.
• Partner with category managers to launch carbon‑free and renewable‑energy initiatives and to embed low‑carbon material choices.
• Design waste‑reduction and water‑stewardship metrics and guide infrastructure planning.
• Own environmental impact metrics for Amazon’s Sustainability Report and ESG disclosures.
• Communicate program outcomes to senior leadership and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including legal, finance, operations and technology.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale environmental or sustainability programs in a global procurement or supply‑chain context.
• Strong ability to translate high‑level climate goals into actionable, measurable initiatives.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of working with suppliers on decarbonisation, carbon‑free energy and low‑carbon materials.
